The Flirts – ‘Helpless (You Took My Love)’

I’ve spent much of today listening to the back catalogue of Bobby O, an influential figure in 80’s pop and hi-NRG dance music. Bobby O released many his productions under his own name, but he was also behind the 80’s girl band The Flirts.

‘Helpless’, from the bombastic intro to the anorexic synths to the most 80s-est groove, is a a brilliant pop song. Both silly and a little sinister, ‘Helpless’ sounds like it was ripped from the GTA: Vice City soundtrack.
